Emergency Appeal for Humanitarian aid to assist Victims of Violence Western Deanery

Greetings to all of you in name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

This letter serves to appeal to you all my beloved people of God on the above crisis that has befallen our people in Tombura and Source Yubu respectively, hoping that you are already aware that the conflict in those areas has affected a great number of our Christians and people of God. Many people have lost their lives; others have been displaced and live in a very bad situation of lack of shelter, food, water and many others.

I Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio, 24 June 2021 – I am very deeply concerned for the wellbeing of thousands of children and adults estimated to be newly displaced by a surge in violence in several parts of Western Equatoria State, specifically in Tombura County and Source-Yubu (Rii-Yubu) Payam. The crisis is likely to lead to higher rates of malnutrition as well as death of vulnerable or outbreak of diseases due to the rainy poor conditions.
