CODEP is an implementing organization run by the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio in South Sudan. The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY) covers 7 counties within the state including: Maridi, Ibba, Yambio, Nzara, Ezo, Tombura, and Nagero. The 4 Diocese comprises of 27 parishes which are grouped into Western, Eastern and Central Deaneries. Catholics are estimated to be over 1,000,000 in number roughly 60% of the population. The region is diverse ethnically and also culturally rich. Zande people form majority of the population among other smaller tribes including but not limited to; Balanda, Baka, Mundu, Muru, Avukaya, among others. The diocese has a team of 35 priests, 400 catechists and several employed lay persons.

CODEP’s Strategic Priority Areas

<p>As CODEP, we champion the development agenda of the diocese. Our key mandate is to set our people on the path of sustainable peaceful co-existance, socio-economic development and resilience. We model our approach along the United Nations’s 15 point agenda for Action for Sustainable Development1 and the United Nation Cooperation Network for South Sudan (UNCF)2 by focussing on our people’s prosperity and other development needs of the Diocese. In that regard we developed a four pillar development areas.</p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;">1. Pillar One: Socio-Economic development for recovery, resettlement, coping and resilience for poverty alleviation.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;">2. Pillar Two: Infrustructure development</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;">3. Pillar Three: Justice &amp; peace, intercomminity, interdenominational dialogue and peaceful co-existance.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 14px;">4. Pillar Five: Partnerships and Institutional Development&nbsp;</span></p>
